You may have heard friends talk about having a:

  • Parisian Peel
  • Diamond Peel
  • Power Peel
  • Microderm Peel
  • Microdermabrasion Peel
  • Smart Peel
  • Lunchtime Peel
  • Vibraderm
  • Silk Peel

All of these are types of microdermabrasion, another tool available to revitalize and resurface skin. The treatment involves mechanical exfoliation to the top layer of skin (epidermis).

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is performed in our office and requires no anesthesia. Using a gently abrasive action, the aesthetician exfoliates the outermost layers of the epidermis (see picture to the right). The licensed aesthetician can control the power of the spray, from a gentle buffing of the skin to deeper exfoliation where needed. At a medium power, microdermabrasion might be compared to results similar to those of a light TCA peel. A full-face treatment generally takes 20 to 40 minutes. At ReNew Institute, our aesthetician uses the Vibraderm machine. Vibraderm exfoliates the skin while creating new collagen. The Vibraderm employs a patented vibrating head with a stainless steel abrasive surface to evenly exfoliate the skin.

What results can you expect?

Following the treatment, your skin may appear lightly pink, but there is no oozing or obvious redness. Some patients say their face feels as if their skin has been deep cleansed. The skin may peel mildly. In the case of a deeper treatment level for more blemished or thicker skins, the skin will appear slightly red and tight for a few hours. Similar to a light peel, the procedure can improve fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage and Uneven skin tone. It treats blackheads and whiteheads, ingrown hairs, pigmentation(brown spots), and gives the skin a healthy-looking glow. It may be used in conjunction with a light chemical peel or laser facial treatment.

Vibradermabrasion

Medical Grade Vibradermabrasion

Instantly smoothes, exfoliates, and refreshes skin. Diminishes fine lines and wrinkles.

How Does Vibradermabrasion Work?

Vibraderm tackles dull skin, fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, acne scars, and age spots. It can even help to elleviate or minimize dry or oily skin. Like other treatments such as MicroDermabrasion, Vibraderm works by sloughing off the dull, damaged top layers of the skin, Vibraderm lets the healthy glow of the newer layers appear, But Vibraderm goes farther than other treatments by also encouraging new collage production. This means that not only will the surface of your skin look better, but that it will also be more firmly supported by the deeper layers. Skin becomes less slack, and more firm and supple.

In addition, Vibraderm creates less redness and discomfort, making it the preferred treatment in studies comparing it with MicroDermabrasion. When polled, 95% of people asked said they preferred Vibraderm.
